“If My Wounds Were Visible” is a PSA film to raise awareness about narcissistic abuse and promote World Narcissistic Abuse Awareness Day (WNAAD) annually on June 1st.
Meet Kevin
Aloha! And welcome to my website! Let me tell you a bit about myself.
As you may be able to tell from my picture, I can be pretty animated, funny, and even silly at times. But I also take my work very seriously. You will, no doubt see my fun side here and there if we work together, but you will definitely see my professionalism. A sense of humor can help the healing process at times. Therapy can be heavy. I believe I use a good balance of these personality traits in my work as a therapist.
I am nationally board-certified, and am licensed in Hawai’i and Pennsylvania as a psychotherapist. I have been board-certified since 2018, but started seeing clients under supervision in 2014.
I graduated from The Pennsylvania State University (Penn State) with an Associate of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) with a concentration in children, youth, and family services in 2012, and a Bachelor of Science degree in HDFS with a concentration in lifespan human services in 2014. I then graduated from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania with a Master of Science degree in clinical mental health counseling in 2017.
I have experience working with couples, families, children, adolescents, and adult individuals, but I mostly work with adults in individual therapy currently.
I am a certified Narcissistic Abuse Treatment Clinician (NATC) and a certified clinical trauma professional, level 2 (CCTP-II).
I am also trained in EMDR therapy. EMDR is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. This is a specific and technical therapy modality first used in the 1980’s with combat veterans who had a diagnosis of PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder).
Since then, this evidence-based therapy has shown to help clients with many different issues and has no known side effects. I enjoy being able to help clients heal who may have had past traumas, tragedies, or hardships that have caused further disturbances in their lives.
I work with clients using many different techniques of counseling, not just EMDR. I am a trauma therapist, but I also have specific training & experience working in intensive family therapy programs, substance abuse treatment, LGBTQ+ issues, and in domestic violence and sexual assault, working with victims as well as with offenders.
I no longer work with offenders or perpetrators of abuse specifically, but my experience has provided unique insights into the minds of those who abuse. I prefer to work with those who have been victims of such abuse instead of working with abusers. My experience and training have led me to specialize in working with womxn who have suffered narcissistic or psychopathic abuse from men. This can take place in a family of origin, in intimate partner relationships, or other environments such as work, school, or other areas of society. If it feels like narcissism is everywhere, that’s because it is. Let me help you better spot it, be better prepared for it, and heal from it.
